KATE
I have had a long fascination with the human body and physical fitness, which began during my nursing career. I always encouraged and motivated my heart patients to be active and find an exercise that they enjoyed and could sustain for the long term in order to live a full and quality life.
My interest in Physical fitness, led me to explore my own journey of health and well-being. I am a mother of two and suffered low back pain after giving birth, which at the time was physically limiting.
I took up running 10 years ago which has kept me physically and mentally strong however I still suffered lower back pain and stiffness, particularly after a long run. After experimenting and not enjoying various gym-based activities, I found the classical Joseph Pilates Method, taught by a great instructor, and have learned how to restore the strength, flexibility and equilibrium in my body that allows me to enjoy my running pain free, with an improved technique, and increase my physical endurance.
My curiosity to develop a better understanding of the biomechanics of human movement, causes and treatment of sporting injuries and the detrimental effects our modern lifestyles have on our bodies, led me to undertake a BSc Hons in Sports Rehabilitation. In addition, I decided to further my expertise by learning the fundamentals of Joseph Pilates’ method and philosophy, in order to enhance my own practice and share the benefits of this fantastic exercise through teaching others.
